Committees are a great way to get involved with your local bar association, network with your colleagues and become a leader in your legal community.
On October 10th, the Lawyers for Literacy Committee of the Palm Beach County Bar Association joined the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County for Read With Me! We had the joy of reading After The Fall by Dan Santat one-on-one with kindergarten students at nine schools across the county. Each child took home a copy of the book and fun activities to keep the story going at home. Moments like these help spark a lifelong love of reading.
On May 12th, the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s Lawyers for Literacy Committee was honored with the Outstanding Community Partner Award at the 2023 Florida Literacy Awards Luncheon for their commitment and dedication to promoting literacy in the community. The Lawyers for Literacy Committee has been instrumental in supporting literacy programs for children in low-income areas and providing resources and training for teachers and parents. This award is a well-deserved recognition of their invaluable contribution to the community. [Photo: Jessica Latour]
On October 26, 2023, the Lawyers for Literacy Committee participated in Read for the Record which is coordinated by the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. Participants read to elementary school students throughout Palm Beach County Schools. This year’s book selection was With Lots of Love by Jenny Torres Sanchez, illustrated by Andre Ceolin. It is a story about a girl who has moved to the United States from her home in Central America, away from everything she leaves behind and longs for – especially her Abuela.
