Justice Perry’s Retirement Celebration

Justice Perry3Join your friends, colleagues and the rest of Florida’s Judicial Community as we all celebrate the distinguished career and retirement of Justice James E.C. Perry.  Judicial communities around the state are joining together to celebrate the career and accomplishments of Justice James E. C. Perry at a retirement event in his honor on Thursday evening, April 13th, in Orlando.

The classic elegance of Church Street Station’s Ballroom will be the perfect venue for Florida’s legal community to celebrate and commemorate Justice Perry’s distinguished legal and judicial career in the state of Florida. On Thursday, April 13th the doors open at 5:30 PM for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, with dinner served at 7:00 PM, followed by brief lighthearted comments and insightful observations of Justice Perry’s profound career by some of his notable colleagues from over the years.  Entertainment is also planned to add to the evening’s enjoyment.    Reserve your seats for this dinner early, as we are expecting this celebration to sell-out.

Perry made the decision to become a lawyer on the night, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, realizing he wanted to be “an instrument of change…to make a difference”. In 2009, while applying for the opening on the Supreme Court, he wrote that his legal career had been more rewarding and fulfilling than he could have imagined, and his commitment to the fundamental principles of the rule of law was stronger than ever. Later that year Governor Crist appointed Perry to serve as the 85th Justice on the Supreme Court of Florida.
